October 2014 ALAP Meeting Recap

The ALAP crew met for another great potluck at MLUI HQ.  Featured speaker Bill Koucky of Grand Traverse Culinary Oils returned to give us an update of his latest ventures as well as an introductory look at the process he’s been through with crowdfunding platform Localstake.  Bill brought samples of his freshly milled Red Wheat flour, a product that he expects to ramp  up in the months ahead.  On the culinary oil front, Bill is in the process of building out refinery capacity that will allow him to open up doors to new food manufacturer customers.  To help with his capital raising for these and future projects to come, Bill has begun working with Localstake to offer a unique revenue share investment to Michigan investors.  Bill is still working out the details of the raise, and more information can be found for those who sign up as investors at localstake.com.  After Bill’s talk, the ALAP gang discussed the recent Roar of the Crowd educational event put on by NMC/MLUI/Kate Redman a few weeks ago where local business owners and their advisors learned about Michigan’s MILE Act.  Our next meeting is scheduled for Thurs, Nov 13.  Details TBA.  Have a great month!
